HOW DOES THE BRAIN
ENABLE THE MIND?
As cognitive neuroscientists, we seek to understand how the brain gives rise to the rich complexity of the mind—how we perceive the world, form memories, and derive meaning from experience. While our core focus is on how the brain supports memory and how it is affected by aging, brain injury, and disease, our research spans a broader range of questions: How does the brain construct predictions from sensory input? What happens when memories are reactivated, modified, or lost? And how can we apply this knowledge to support people whose cognitive or communicative experiences fall outside the norm?
